Is your brand recognized at the meat case? Do customers remember your brand when talking about meat? Most importantly, do they buy your brand when they are shopping the meat case? According to this data, spontaneous recall is low for branded fresh meat. On average, consumers can only recall one brand. Almost half the consumers couldn't recall a single beef or pork brand. Recall was significantly higher for chicken. When provided with a list, consumers could recall approximately five brands. The recall was highest for beef, followed closely by chicken. Pork had a significantly lower recall than the other two.

Once again the Power of Brands research confirmed that perishables drive traffic. But have you stopped to consider how brands within your meat department impact on your customers’ loyalty? The meat department and the brands contained within it are a significant draw for customers. The brands you carry may be the determining factor in whether or not a customer chooses your store over your competitor. What is standing in the way of your store attracting these customers? In this study, 27% strongly agree that they often choose the store where they shop because of the beef, pork, or chicken brands it carries. In total, nearly 3 out of 4 agree that carrying certain brands plays some role in choosing the store where they shop.
